Mrs J. Lowry, Hawke’s Bay, left on Friday by the Mariposa for Sydney. Miss M. McLagan, Batt street, is a visitor to Masterton. Mr. and Mrs. E. Cross, Linton street, have returned from a visit to Queens- . town. Miss Mary van Aseh, Havelock North, who is visiting her aunt, Mrs Edwin Hamilton, Papanui, Christchurch, will leave for the north 1 to-night.

Mrs H. G. Hartin, Christchurch, has arrived at Palmerston North, where she will spend a fortnight with Mrs R. E. Gaisford. Later she will visit Auckland.

Miss Paddy Levin, Feilding, is the guest of Miss Aisla Beetham, Masterton.

Mrs Arthur Russell, Palmerston North, is visiting her sister, Miss Hilda Williams, “Westmore, ” Gloucester street West.

Mrs S. McGuinness, College street, Palmerston North, has returned from a visit to Gisborne and Taranaki.

At Friday’s meeting of the Palmerston North Branch of the Plunket Society, the secretary, Mrs M. Aitchison, was instructed to send a letter of sympathy to Miss Mary King, daughter of the late Sir Truby King.

At the Shannon sports bn Saturday Miss June Scott gained first awards in the Highland Fling, Sword Dance, Seaun Triubhas and Highland Reel. Pupils of Miss Scott won the following awards': Under 10, Fling, Isobel Anderson 1, Mavis Gannaway 2; 12 and under section, Joan Lynch gained first awards in the Fling, Seaun Triubhas, and seconS in the Irish Jig; in 12 and under Hornpipe, Isobel Anderson was first and Mavis Gannaway third; and Ruth McDowall was second in the Sword Dance.
