From Our Own CorreeponflentCroquet Club. In the first match of the third round for the Sherwood Cup, the Shannon Club met Foxton on the Foxton lawns and were defeated by 13 points, the scores being Foxton 48 points, Shannon 35 points. Personal. n a short visit to relatives and friends at Auckland are Mrs F. Venn, of Shannon, and Mrs O. Larsen. Makerua. Mrs W. H. Gunning, of Bryce street, ie holidaying with her daughter. Mrs James Currie, Waverley. The friends of Mrs J. Hennessy will be pleaded to learn that she has her baby daughter home, after being almost three months in the Karltane Hospital, Wellington. The baby has made wonderful progress since going tnere. The Shannon Plunket Society Is endeavouring to raise funds, and to thie end is conducting a dance this week-end and has taken over the catering at the Sport*. W.D.F.U. Mrs F. Cook presided over the February meeting of the Shannon branch of tile W.D.F.U. There was a good attendance and a happy evening was spent by all. It was decided that the annual banquet be held in March. Arrangements will be finalised at the next meeting, which will be the annual meeting. Members are requested to attend in full force. During the evening Mrs S. Roberts gave an interesting talk on gardening. Supper was served by. Mesdames Carter and Bowe. Congratulations are extended to Mr Q. Munford on his further successes In the show pens this year. At Levin, with ten entries, he secured the champion award with a 4-th. ewe, reserve champion with a ram, and four firsts, four seconds and two thirds with others. At Feilding. which is one of the most Important centres for sttud flocks of the Southdown and Romney breeds, a. different team from that at the Levin Show, with the exception of one ram, was entered. A 1-th. ©we obtained the card of champion, and its twin wai a reserve champion. A first was secured for a ram hogget, first and third for ewe lambs, and third and highly commended for ram lambs, there being large entrlea in this section. A flock ram obtained fifth place in a class with 40 entries. Following the show, a ram fair was held, and here again Mr Munford was to the fore, receiving top price in the fair for a stud ram. Altogether this is a record of which Mr Munford can well be proud.
