Planned Immigration
INVESTIGATION BY COMMISSION REQUESTED P«r Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. A large deputation headed by Mr. A. L. Hunt, chairman of the Dominion Settlement Association, and consisting of representatives from all the leading business organisations, including the Associated Chambers of Commerce and the Manufacturers’ and Employer^ 7 Associations, the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, the licensed victuallers, the R.S.A., and the various Churches, etc., waited on the Government this morning to request a commission to investigate the question of planned immigration.
In the absence of Mr. Savage the deputation was received by Mr. Fraser and the Minister in Charge of Immigration (Mr. Armstrong). After hearing lengthy representations, the Ministers expressed sympathy with the case presented and undertook to give it their Tull consideration.
