With a view of giving the children as much outdoor exercise as possible the new curriculum for February in the Palmerston North schools is proving most satisfactory. Although scholastic work takes the major place on tho day’s programme it is so arranged that there is no possibility of mental fatigue. School work is given less time than previously arranged, but as the children are eager for their work in anticipation of the new features introduced into school activities it is felt that the progress being made leaves no grounds for complaint. “During the last two seasons some of our players have suffered rather severe injuries While on the crickc-t field,” said a letter to the management committee of the Wellington Cricket Association from the Midland Cricket Club, “and our committee went into the question of instituting an insurance scheme covering accidents. As we are so small a body no insurance company would consider it, but we suggest that your association could possibly arrange a comprehensive policy covering all Wellington cricketers.” The insuring of players was left to a sub-committee, which, if it can decide on a practicable scheme, is to refer it to the committee.
