Experience in blind flying, landing and piloting of ’planes at night is to be included among the qualifications for a B (commercial) license in New Zealand as from the end of next month. The objective is to bring the JMw Zealand license up to the same standard of qualification as the British equivalent. At least one pilot in Hawke’s Bay has had in mind the need for the endorsement of his license next month with these additional qualifications, and early this week he indulged in some practice at night. During the next few weeks it is possible that night flying will be frequently noted by residents of Hastings and the surrounding districts. Hawke’s Bay parents and guardians of children attending the Otaki Health Camp have been advised that the children at present in camp will be returning by the Napier express to-day. Indicative of the serious endeavour of the authorities to return the children thoroughly restored to health and strength is the case of one Hastings child who has had two successive terms in the camp and consent has now been asked for him to remain a third. During this child’s sojourn in the camp the authorities have gone to the extent of enlisting the services of a specialist in addition ro the camp doctors in an endeavour to confirm a diagnosis and ensure correct treatment.
