DIPLOMACY EXPENSES NEARLY £1,000,000 United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyr isrh t. LONDON. Feb. 15. The supplementary civil estimates, totalling £981,000, indicate for the first time the heavy cost of the Chinese and Spanish wars to Britain. Items include £10,600 for the expenses of the NonIntervention Committee, £15,000 to cover the more costly diplomatic services, £15,000 for the evacuation of Britishers from China, and £33,000 for evacuations from bpain, and £SOOO for hospitality during the Imperial Conference.
