SHIPPING AT AUCKLAND HARBOUR

Describing the year as being one of marked activity and progress, the chairman of the Auckland Harbour Board, Hon. T. Bloodvvorth, M.L.C., informed members at the board’s annual meeting that records had been established in tonnage of shipping using the port, and in the volume of outward and inward shipping and the number of passengers carried to and from Auckland.

After meeting all charges, there was a surplus on the year’s working of £40,625. The port’s tr*£o during last year had amounted to 29.18 per cent, more than in 1929, the year in which was established the board’s record for the period before the depression.
