Rifle Shooting in Sydney

TEAMS MATCH WON BY BRITAIN Uni tod Press Association—By Klee trie Telegraph.—Copyright Received Tuesday, 11 p.m. SYDNEY, Feb. 15. The British team of riflemen displayed brilliant marksmanship to-day to win the Empire teams match from Australia by 23 points. New Zealand, 11 points further away, was third. The totals were: Britain, 2260 points; Australia, 2237; New Zealand, 2226; South Africa, 2207. The weather was typically English—cool and overcast—and the British team took full advantage of the conditions. The New Zealanders had the lowest total at 800 yards. Most of the men shot well, but the failure of E. Croxton allowed the South Africans to displace them from third place. The New Zealanders, however, recovered finely at 900 yards, equalling the range total of Britain with 376, besides retrieving third place behind Australia.

The New Zealanders' scores for the three stages were: Bowes, 47—49—45; Wrigley, 49—48—44; West, 49—49 48; Farley, 49—49—47; Soler, 48—48 45; Jeune, 46—45—45; Nichol, 49—46 43; Croxton, 44 —42—40.
