Adult Education Scheme

FEILDING W.E.A. MEETING An outline of the proposed adult education scheme which is to be commenced in Feilding was given by Mr. L. J. Wild, headmaster of the Feilding Agriculture High School, to a meeting of tho committee of the Feilding W.E.A. on Monday night. Mr. A. J. Humphreys was in the chair and extended a welcome from the association to Mr. Wild.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Wild gave a resume of his experiences abroad, dealing more particularly with his observations at the various educational centres he had visited in Great Britain and Norway.

►Speaking in connection with the adult education scheme iu Feilding, Mr. Wild said that although the full details of what would be done were not yet completed, it was definite that Mr. ►Somerset would be coming to Feilding to take charge of the scheme. Whether he would be attached to the Feilding High School or act indejjcndently in collaboration witli the speaker in the various educational efforts in accordance with what opened up was not yet clear. There was as yet nothing definite about the whole scheme except that the Technical School building in Fergusson street would be tho centre of it and would be opened to give the i>ublic access to the Carnegie Corporation pictures and art works therein. The idea was that the move would be extended to meet the needs for cultural, craft, dramatic and other subjects, and classes would be formed to proceed in tho direction of post-school education.

Mr. Wild was thanked for his interesting report on the scheme, the committee deciding that the Feilding W.E.A. would carry on as usual this year.

A meeting will be held next month to draw up a suitable programme which will be subject to any alteration the progress of the adult education scheme may render necessary.
