Fruitgrowers to Press the Politicians
IF POTATOES, THEN ORANGES United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—-Copyright. Received Thursday, 11.25 p.m. SYDNEY, Juno 24. The New Zealand embargo on citrus fruits was vigorously debated at tho annual conference of the Fruitgrowers’ Federation at Sydney to-day. The Conference expressed appreciation of the work done in New Zealand by their president and secretary, Messrs. Heane and Herrod, and decided to bring pressure on politicians to permit a proportion of New Zealand’s potatoes to enter Australia. The Conference was convinced that once New Zealand potatoes were allowed into Australia the citrus embargo in New Zealand would disappear.
