BREEDERS MEET AT AUCKLAND. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Last Night.. ‘‘lt is my pleasure to report that our association has once again experienced a most successful year, and i lee] that members will be gratified at the greui progress that has oeeu made by the industry during the past year, both from the breeders' and xroni the commercial point oi view,” said the president of me New Zealand Fig Breeders’ Association, Air. J. A. Russell, of Palmerston North, in his address to the annual meeting. At lung last a national scheme of recording nad been introduced, aud the scheme was operating successfully. Air. This would do much to improve the general type and quality of the porii and bacon pig produced, to ensure better housing conditions, and to improve ieediiig methods. At the suggestion of Mr. W. D. Lane, of Auckland, it was decided to urge the Royal Agricultural Society to press for the lifting of the embargo on all stock and also to use their best endeavours to secure Government eo-operaticn iu the provision of cheaper stock foods, it was also decided that a recommendation be made to the council of the association that, when funds permit, all pigs should be inspected before they are accepted for registration.
