All Saints’ Branch Of the Mothers’ Union

REV. W. LANGSTON WELCOMED. There was a good attendance at the monthly meeting of All Saints’ branch of the Mothers’ Union held in the Girls’ Club-room yesterday afternoon. Rev. W. Langston, who was accompanied by Mrs Langston, presided over the gathering for the first time. Mrs Metcalfe extended a welcome to Rev. and Mrs Langston expressing the hope that their association with All Saints’ would be a happy one. Prior to tho moeting a service was held in the Lady Chapel. In the course of a thoughtful address Rev. W. Langston pointed out that people in their desire to do good were often over-anxious and thus gave the impression of being officious. This was unnecessary but whut was necessary was to find men and women as leaders who would build up a strong society and leave behind ihem a tradition and a knowledge that their work would stand secure. Rev. Langston also, stressed tho great need and importance of commonsense and humility in religion, which God never intended to be a drawback. As a parting thought tho speaker urged that members- should take whetever God had put into their lives, but they must not let those things so hinder them as in time to become a drawback. During the afternoon seven new members were welcomed. A dainty afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, who were Mesdames W. Schwarz, H. Radcliffffe, J. Kennedy and O. Dunstan and E. M. Ashcroft (conveners).
