Time Ripe for Discussion of Labour’s Record

NATIONAL PARTY LEADER ON TOUR. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Last Night. A 16 days' tour of the Aucklaud Province was commenced to-day by the leader of the National Party, Hon. A. Hamilton. He arrived from Wellington by the limited express. As the express was more than an hour late Mr. Hamilton was obliged to leave almost immediately by car for W'arkworth on route to Whangarei. *T have had very encouraging welcomes on my tours in tho south,” ho said in tho course of an interview, “and I am looking forward to making contacts with tho many supporters of tho party in the north. As you know I nave not spent much time in this part of New Zealand before and the trip should be an interesting experience. 1 have had many letters from farmers and others especially in Waikato and Bay of Plenty saying that they wish to meet me.”

Mr. Hamilton remarked that he had not undertaken comprehensive speechmaking tours earlier because he felt that the new Government should not be subjected to criticism from the platform until it had had time to settle down and put its policy into effect. The Government had now been a year in office and the time was ripe for a discussion of its record.

Supporters of the National Party at Warkworth entertained Mr. Hamilton to luncheon and he addressed a public meeting at Whangarei : n the evening. He will hold further meetings at Kenkeri, Ohaewai and Wellsford. Three days of the tour will be devoted to Auckland city. Mr. Hamilton is to leave for the Waikato and Bay ol Plenty districts on Monday and he will return to Wellington in time to address a large meeting of business men ol March 24.
