New Hospital Board Member
MR. D. W. NEULD APPOINTED. WAIPUKUEAU, March 5. The Waipukurau Borough Council last night appointed Mr. D. W. Neild as its new representative on the Waipawa Hospital Board. He is to replace Mr. B. G. Atkins who recently resigned. On the motion of Or. J. McCarthy, seconded by Cr. J. G. Bromell, the appointment was made unanimously. The Mayor, Mr. I. W. N. Mackie, said it was desirable to have a businessman such as Mr. Neild, especially in view of the fact that most of the present members of the board were farmers. On the motion of the Mayor, seconded by Cr. McCarthy, the action of the Town Clerk in writing to Mr. B. G. Atkins, expressing appreciation of his past services, was endorsed. Will Support Move for Inquiry. Mr. D. W. Ncilds, when interviewed by a “Times” representative to-day, said that he was pleased to have been appointed by the Waipukurau Borough Council to the vacancy that had been created on the Hospital Board by the resignation of Mr. B. G. Atkins. Though without previous experience of local body work, ho hoped to be able to be of service to the public while on the board. Mr. Neild further said that it was no use blinking the fact that at present the public was not satisfied that all was as it should be in the board's administration. It was the business of the board to see that that feeling was replaced by one of confidence, and, for that reason, he would support the movement initiated by Mr. Hawthorn, for an enquiry.
