Pipes Skirl at Midsummer Wedding

PINLAYSON—BENTON. A wedding look place at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, December 2, when Eita Katherine, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Benton, was married to Allan John, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Finlayson, of Umutaoroa, Dannevirke.. Eev. K. L. Warren officiated and Mrs. J. E. Macdonald presided at the organ, tho church being prettily decorated by friends of the bride.

The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her father was gowned in ivory angelskiu cut on simple lines with full flared skirt and slight train. Her beautifully embroidered veil was held in place with a coronet of orange blossoms and a sheaf of Christmas lilies completed a very dainty toilette. Attending her were her sister Phyliss and Miss Gabrielle Roxborough, of Dannevirke, friend of the bride. The chief maid’s frock was of tinselled pink crepe cut with a round faggotted yoke, long bishop sleeves and full flared skirt. A bandeau of pink flowers was worn round the head and her shoes were of gold satin. The second maid’s frock was of silver tinselled georgette cut on similar lines. She wore a bandeau of green flowers and her shoes were of silver. Both maids carried bouquets of Iceland poppies and maiden hair fern. Little Isabel Benton and Master Fred Benton attended as flower girl and page boy respectively. Isabel wore a long cream georgette frock and carried a posie of pink roses. Her bandeau was of pink leaves. Fred woro a suit of cream satin.

Mr. Jack Sargent carried out the duties of best man wliilo Mr. diin MiiSS was groomsman. Messrs. J. Finlayson and L. Benton acted as ushers. Mr. J. Finlayson, brother of the groom, piped the happy couple from, the church with the Highland Wedding March. Mrs. Benton and Mrs. Finlayson received their guests at the Majestic tearooms where tho reception was held. The former wore a frock of black silk velvet and black silk swagger coat with hat and accessories to tone. Tho latter was attired in a model ensemble of brown silk marocaiu with brown hat to tone. Each carried a posie. The tables were artistically decorated with Iceland poppies while a beautiful bell hung over the bridal table. A feature of tho table was a three-tiered cake made by the bride’s mother and decorated by Mrs. Ancell. Later the happy couple left by car, the bride wearing a brown ensemble with brown hat and accessories to tone. They received many beautiful presents and several cheques. Evening Dance.

Led by. Piper J. Finlayson the party then adjourned to the Mayfair Hall where Mr. and Mrs. Benton entertained. Mr. Ken Hicks supplied excellent music while an extra was played by Mr. Brannigan of Dannevirke. Mr. J. Finlayson again pleased the guests with extras on his pipes and Miss Eileen Brannigau gave two entertaining yodelling items. The Monte Carlo waltz was won by Miss Benton and partner. Tho duties of M.C. were carried out by Mr. 0. Stone. The happy function was brought to a close shortly after midnight by the singing of "Auld Lang Syne."
