Public Service to be Recognised

CHAIRMAN AND CLERK OF MANAWATU COUNTY COUNCIL. At the conclusion of tho business at yesterday’s meeting of the Manawatu County Council and in tho absence of the chairman (Cr. W. E. Barber) and the county clerk (Mr. A. K. Drew), Cr. J. 11. Perrett informed the councillors present that the chairman had completed 31 years’ service as a member of the council, while in January next Mr. Drew would complete 30 years’ service as county clerk. It appeared to the speaker that it would bo appropriate for the council to take steps to publicly recognise such long service. Councillors present unanimously agreed that an early opportunity should bo taken to give effect to Cr. Perrett ’s suggestion and it was decided to proceed with the arrangements for recognising the services of Cr. Barber and Mr. Drew.
