From Dm <. >n icspoudant. Although the weather was unfavourable there was a good attendance at the meeting of the Women’s institute, which was the last of the year. iUrs N. M. Burnett extended a welcome to visitors and Mrs Bverenden was nominated as a new member The sunshine committee reported that Mrs W. Galbraith was in hospital and all wished her- a speedy recovery. Final arrangements were made for the children's (Jnrisunas party to bo held in the Foresters' hall on (Saturday, December 11). Miss Peaerscn gave a demonstration on hat blocking, cleaning and renovating, which was iollowed with keen interest. At the completion of business, the meeting was of a social nature, giving members an opportunity lor friendly chats and all joined heartily in singing Cnristmas carols. Mrs Hanlon and Rev. Boyd gave much pleasure with their delightful singing. The senior competition won by Miss Kirkpatrick, was for a patcli on damask, and Miss Walther and Knapp were winners of tho junior section for paper hats, these being ol' novel designs. Tho trade stall was exceptionally well laden with useful and artistic articles, good business resulting. The president extended good wishes to all for a nappy Christmas and a bright and useful year in the institute work, which were heartily reciprocated by the members. Votes of thanks were accorded all who assisted in making a happy meeting. Afternoon tea was served. . . . Holy Trinity Annual Prize-giving. The annual prize-giving was held last Friday. A banquet tea was provided for the children, alter which an excellent concert and dance was held. The items were: —Songs, H. McNeil; Irish jig, PWare; mandolin guitar, It. Walker; song, H. McNeil, F. Hardy, I. Watkins and D. Vowell; pianoforte solo, Miss Bailey; tapdance, H. Watkins; song, J. Schroder; duet, C. Symes and R. Walker; recitation, J, Mountford; bed-time story (Boy Blue), j! Schroder, J. Fulton, B. Vowell, f• Hardy, P. Symes, F. smith, H. McNeil, N; Paddy, P. do Malmancho, B. Nelson, I "Watkins and D. Pilcher; Maori recital, K McNeil, It. Walker, C. Symes, D. Watkins, D. Vogt, B. Smith. I. Watkins, J : Shaw, H. McNeil, P. de Malmanche and bV Smith; Hawaiian melody-makers, Carswell, B. AVaiker and R. Russell. After the concert tho pupils received their prizes. Miss P. Noble, who has been a teacher for the kindergarten, and is leaving Woodville, was presented with a copy of tho Bible. In appreciation of the work rendered, the children presented Mrs Walker with a book and bouquet. Dancing was carried on, music being supplied by Mr G. Fairley. Personal.

Mrs N. Carroll, Wellington, is visiting her parents, Mr and J\lr3 G. Walther, Woodville. Mr and Mrs W. Eider, Hawera, are visiting Woodville. Miss Alla Beetham, Masterton, is the guest of Miss B. Smith, Woodville. Dr P. H; Mules had as his guests over the week-end, Messrs J. Mules, A. Hull, D Ellingham, Misses M. Mules and J. Nalder, all of Wellington.
