Ancient Custom Still Kept
Mr Richard Hughes, novelist and dramatist, has been elected a constable and juryman of tho only town in Britain, Laugharne, Carmarthenshire, which still preserves all the customs of an early 13th century charter, granted by King John. A grand jury. 13 selected, and four constables, who, in ancient times, were responsible for law and order, are appointed. Mr Hughes lives at Laugharne Castle, which was built in the thirteenth century.
