McCready Resists “Octopus Clamp”

BLOMFIELD beaten at HASTINGS. Per Px-ess Association. HASTINGS, Last Night. With a fall in the seventh round, Earl McCready (Canada) defeated Lofty Blomfteid (New Zealand) in a professional wrestling contest here this evening. The contest was billed for the British Empire title and the bout attracted a record attendance. The winning fall was the result of clever work on the part of McCready, who had been lifted for two dumps by Blomiield, but when the latter went to uppty a body press, McCready rolled the New Zealander over for a surprise fall. The final round was notable for the fact that McCready resisted B'lomfield’s specialty, tho “octopus clamp,” for three parts of the round.

SAVOLDI AND BLOMFIELD. Per Press Association. HAMILTON, Dec. 4. In the final wrestling bout of the season at Hamilton last night, Lofty Blomfield and Joe Savoldi drew, no falls being registered. The capacity house was disappointed by the colourless display, neither man appearing to extend himself. Savoldi was master at any stage and indulged in showmanship to attempt to keep the bout alive. Blomfield was obviously tired after his wrestling at Christchurch the previous night.
