Mrs. J. S. Payne, of Wellington, is the guest of her sister, Airs. T. O’Neill, of Halcombe.

Airs. G. Powell, of Wellington, has been on a visit to her aunt, Mrs. J. C. Hill, Halcombe road, Fcilding.

Mr. and Mrs. Basil Johnston, of Cheltenham, left on Friday for Gisborne, where Airs. Johnston will spont tho next month with her people.

Aliss Jean Batten, who is at presont visiting Wairakei, will return to Auckland on Alonday, and will Joavo by the Awatea on Wednesday for Sydney, where she will meet her mother. They will then come to New Zealand, reaching Wellington by the Awatea on December 21. Airs. Batten, who remained in England when hor daughter set out on hor record-breaking flight to New Zealand, is now on her way from England in the liner Esperance Bay.

Mr and Mrs M. Maurice Smith (London) will leave by the Tamaroa on December 29 for a short holiday in x.ew Zealand.. .They plan to stay in the Dominion for two months before returning via the United States to England in time for tho Coronation. Before his tour, Mr Smith will be entertained at dinner by Waitaki old boys in London, and a welcome will also be extended to Lieutenant-Colonel E. Puttick. Mr Smith, who is hon. secretary and treasurer to the New Zealand i Society in London, is the son of the late Air G. Harold Smith, Pahiatua.
