"Miss Drayton in Wanganui.
Miss Gertrude Drayton, C.8.E., chief British secretary- of the Victoria League (London),- arrived at Wanganui yesterday from Gisborne. She is the guest of Mrs. Norman Bain, president of the Wanganui branch of the league. Mr. and Mrs. Bain motored to Palmerston North to meet her. While at Wanganui she will be entertained by Mrs. David Mason, Miss Gibbons, and j'| Mr. C. G. Ross, at luncheon and mor* I,; ning tea, and on Friday afternoon members of the league will have the opporiji tunity of meeting Miss Drayton at a i | garden party given by Mrs. A. •iHatrick, sen., at her home, ‘'Virginia,” St. John's Hill. On Saturday, Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Boyes will motor her. to New Plymouth and she will leave for Wei- . lington-on Tuesday, December 1. Miss Drayton wa3 awarded the 0.8. E. for .--her-war work, and since then, has received the C.B.E. A conference of all vthe branches of the Victoria League will be held in Hobart '-in January, which she will attend.
