riltST DRAFT SENT AWAY. j LAMBS AT B|D. ! The fat lamb season lias commenced and farmers with lambs in forward condition will soon be having the buyers going through their flocks. Last week good drafts were got away from the properties of Messrs. J. T. Itoss and J. Gregory, the Cornelius Estate, while several smaller drafts were despatched by others. Mr. J. T. Boss had 112 in his draft and they averaged out at 35.31b5. which was a'pound lighter than the first lot he got away last year when he received per pound. This year conditions were generally unfavourable during ■September and early lambs received a
check which has resulted in an allround lateness. Prices are being advanced by buyers at per pound which is more than was paid out for lambs at the same date last year. Mr. Ross, though receiving three farthings less than he secured for his first draft last year, got 25 more away this year which more than made up for tho lower price. It is understood that the best killing was for a pair of lambs on behalf of Mr. Cowan whose return showed 371bs. A small draft on behalf of Mr. Matthews, of Marima, averaged out at 361bs-
