Mishaps to Motorists
PALMERSTONIANS IN HOSPITAL "Whilo on its way to Auckland from Palmerston North early on Sunday morning, a car driven by Jlr MeNab, of Palmerston North, when passing an oncoming vehicle at Westmere, ran off the bitumen and collided with a powerpole and a fence post, with the result that it was badly damaged and throe of the five passengers wero taken to tho Wanganui Hospital suffering from shock, minor cuts and bruises. They were Mrs 13. Hinds, of Foxton, Mrs McNab and Mrs Oliver, both of Palmerston North. Their condition is reported as satisfactory.
Minister’s Car Leaves Road A mishap, fortunately not of a serious nature, occurred, to Hon. W. Nash’s motor-car on Saturday evening when eu route from Wellington to Bulls. As the car was negotiating tho 57t-chain stretch between the Whirokino bridge and the Main drain it left the flood inundated road and became stuck in the swampy ground. Mr and Mrs Nash wore taken into Foxtou, where they joined Mr Ormond Wilson, M.P. for Bulls, whom they intended visiting, Mrs Nash being on a health-recruiting trip to tho country after a period in hospital. The Minister’s car was later removed by Mr C. Walker, of Foxton, but his truck, in attempting to turn round after rendering assistance, also became stuck. Tho road is in a very bad state after the recent inundation.
