Gift Evening for Bride-to-be
On. Saturday evening there was a large gathering in the schoolroom to extend good? wishes to Miss Edna Thomas on her approaching marriage to Mr. J. Hunter. Many and beautiful presents testified to the popularity of Miss Thomas. Competitions , and novelty dances caused much amusement and enjoyment throughout the evening, a parcel competition won by the guest of honour. Two novelty dances, the Gay Gordons and A Spot Waltz, were won by .Misses J. Entwisle and K. Pettersen respectively. A further competition was won by Miss M. and Mr G. Fitzpatrick. Music, for the dancing, which was controlled by Mr D. Rutherford, was supplied by Miss M. Fitzpatrick and Mr G. Fitzpatrick and M. MacMillan. At a suitable juncture Mr R. E. Stuart, on behalf of the wellwishers, asked Miss Thomas, w T ho was the recipient of a bouquet presented by Miss Pam Stuart, to accept the many and beautiful presents which went to show the esteem in which sho was held. Mr. J. Hunter suitably responded on bohalf of Thomas. Among those on the floor were:— Miss E. Thomas in bottlo green marocain relieved with satin beautc; Mrs R. E. Stuart, tomato red sand crepe; Miss B. Entwisle, self striped marocain trimmed with white; Mrs Strickland (Wellington), black velvet; Mrs H. Eames Livingstone, wine marocain; Mrs MacMillan, (Feilding), blue floral marocain; Mrs A. H. Entwisle, wine georgette with silver flowers; Mrs W. J. Entwisle, blue marocain tirmmed with white; Mrs G. Eames, pink sand crepe; Mrs If. Buchanan, red velvet; Mrs Oorpe, brown crepe de chene; Mrs P. 0. Rutherford, brown marocain tirmmed with orange; Mrs Cranston (Kiwitea), moss green silk; Mrs J. Cranston (Kiwitea), red silk trimmed with white; Mrs J. Stewart, black floral silk voile; Miss I. Entwisle, sunset matnlasse; Miss M. Cranston, marina blue crepe; Miss R. Cranston, blue silk; Miss E. Green, lemon velvot trimmed with brown; Miss N. Whitehead, white floral draw T n threat voile trimmed with black velvet; Miss J. Corpc, brown marocain; Miss B. Flannery, black velvet; Mrs S. Small, Mrs C. Small, Mrs F. Woolford, Miss R. Small and many others.
