BIG DEVELOPMENT SCHEME STARTED

I], A site of approximately 700 acres has been secured near Gateshead, North Durham, for development by North Eastern Trading Estates, Ltd., which is a company formed recently to acquire and develop it and provido all reasonable facilities needed by industrialists tn starting new industries in the distressed areas. The company 's capital is piovidcd from the special a.rcas fund granted by r Parliament under conditions arranged by’ the commissioner for special arcus in England. ihe purchase of the site is estimated to cost between £OO,OOO and £70,000. It iies immediately Jo the west of tho London and North-Eastern Railways main line and close to the Great North road and further access to it will be provided by the development, of arterial roads to the west and east. Although arrangements for pureiiasing the site have just been completed 35 inquiries for factory sites have already been received which is regarded as a clear indication of the need of this development work to be pressed forward with all speed in order that everything might be iu readiness to start new industries at the beginning of 1937. The essential services of electricity, gas, water and other forms of power are readily available in ample supply for the new town.
