Ross gathered to wish them farewell. The evening was a happy informal affair, when dancing- was interspersed with competitions, community singing- and sol js. The stage was, nicely arranged with carpet and arm chairs and bowls of red camellias gave a bright splash of colour. A blazing log lire greatly added to the comfort, and cheerfulness of tlie hall. The dance music was supplied by .Messrs. J. Fraser and S. Rowland on tbe piano and .Messrs. F. •Schwanim and I. Parkinson on the accordian. Tnose who contributed to the evening's entertainment were Messrs. H. MeEwen and E. P. Nielsen, solos; and Messrs. Des Rowland and lan Fraser, vocal duet with ukelele accompaniment. An amusing competition was won by Mrs. E. P. Nielsen and Mr. A. Gale. At the conclusion of the programme the chairman of the hall committee, Mr. \V. Rowland, called upon the guests of the evening to take a place of honour on the stage and extolled the capabilities of Mr. Ross as a factory manager. .Mr. Richardson, who also spoke, deplored the fact that such residents as Mr. and Mrs. Ross had been, were leaving the district and none were coming to tako their place. He felt it was a retrograde step as far a 3 the district was concerned. Best wishes were extended Mr. and Mrs.' Ross in the;r future homo and tho hope was expressed that Mr. Ross would soon bo in a larger factory as his capabilities were worthy ol such. On behalf of the suppliers Mr. Ross was handed a fountain pen. from the residents Mr. and Mrs. Ross received a set of calvers, and Mrs. D. Rowland, as president of the Women's Institute, handed Mrs. Ross a crystal cruet set—a gift from her fellow members. Mr. and Mrs. Ross both briefly conveyed their thanks for the gifts and evening’s entertainment. A buffet supper was then served and a pleasant evening concluded • with .the singing of Auld Banc Syne.
