Missing Accountant’s Body Recovered
PARTY’S STRENUOUS WORK Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Last Night. The body of the accountant Eric M. Edgar, of Mount Eden, who has been missing from his home since August 3, was found this morning on a small strip of beach on the west coast. The body, which had been extensively mutilated in the surf, was brought to the road with great -difficulty owing to the inaccessioility of the spot where it was found. Identification was possible through a ring on ouo finger. The discovery of the body was made by Mr. A. Mobbs, who was walking along the beach on his way to trap opossums. He had been over the same ground on the previous afternoon, but the body was not there then. It was necessary to take the body on a stretcher for about a quarter of a mile along the rocks, over a spur and down to the water level again before a practicable route up the cliffs could be reached. This led up the side of another rough bush-elaa spur at a steep angle and presented very hard going. In spite of tho strenuous efforts of the party it took over two hours to reach the road. Mr. Edgar went to Piha by service car on August 3 and was last seen in tho afternoon walking north along the Piha beach since when no trace of him had been found,
