PAHIATUA EXECUTIVE MEETS,

FINALISING THE TOURNEY. A meeting of the executive of the Paliiatua Buxiug Association was held in tho office of the secretary on Saturday evening, when there were present Messrs A. P. Jensen (who presided), P. D. Moncrieif, J. A. Hunt, J. Devane, R. Mabey, A. Pratt, V. Baker, G. A. Allan, G. Scales, G. Moods, H. Reeve, sonr., lan Taylor, B. Draper, C. 0. Smith, J. Barnett and C. McCardle. An apology was received from Mr P. Davies. A fair amount of correspondence was read and dealt with. It was decided to allow £3 10s each to Maurice Spring and J. Bradbury to cover their expenses to the New Zealand Boxing Championships, to be hold at Wellington early in September, where they will represent the association in the middle and welter weight sections of the championships. It was resolved to accept the offer of the Dannevirke Boxing Club to send a team of boxers to tho tournament — a middleweight, a welter, a lightweight and a pair of midgets. Tho question of providing seating accommodation was again discussed, and it was decided to leave the procuring of the local seating available to Messrs J. Barnett and V. Baker. The matter of procuring new gloves for the professional bout were left to Mr Jensen, and the appointing of paid doorkeepers to Mr McCardle. The supper arrangements were left in the hands of tho secretary. It was reported that articles of agreement had been posted to Jack McMahon, the Drill hall booked, application made to the Assistant-Commis-sioner of Taxes for permission to stage the fight, and a police permit applied for. Mr L. I’oupard, of Rongotea, was appointed sole referee for the amateur contests, and for the professional bout he will be assisted by two judges. The question of having judges for tho big bout provoked a deal of discussion, and it was only carried by one vote. The secretary was asked to attend to the matter of appointing tho judges, and two Wellington officials will probably be selected. Officials were appointed a 3 follows: — Timekeepors, Messrs W. H. Gaisford and G. Oxley; call steward, Mr lan Taylor; glove stewards, Messrs B. Draper and G. A. Allan; seconds, Messrs J. Davies, O. Oxley and H. Trask; steward in charge of boxing and ring paraphernalia, Mr C. McCardle; weight steward, Mr A. C. 'nmms; assistant, Mr B. Lett; stewards in charge of seating, Messrs P. Davies, J. A. Hunt, G. Bailey, J. Devane, H. Reeve, sear., A. Pratt, V, Baker, G. Woods, C. C. Smyth, G. Seales, C. Mabey; reserved seats, Messrs G. G. Hill and J. Barnett. Tho question of simplifying the arrangements in connection with the sale of tickets and coping with the crowd was left in the hands of Mr J. D. Moncrieff. Mr J. Devane was elected a member of the executive, and a donation of 10s from him to the funds of the association acknowledged with thanks. Mr R. Mabey was appointed announcer of the various bouts.
