“THE MARECHALE”
WOMAN EVANGELIST IN
AUCKLAND,
“The Mareehale,” a woman preacher, who is the eldest daughter of the late General William Booth, tho founder of tho Saltation Army, and is a sister to the present General Evangeline Booth, has arrived in Auckland by the Aorangi on her way to Australia (states tho Auckland Star).
For 25 years “The Mareehale” (a title of honour given by the French people) preached in France, Switzerland, Belgium, and Holland. Slip faced tho mobs of Paris and Geneva with tho Gospel as her sole weapon. Braving the fiercest persecution in Switzerland sho was twice arrested and imprisoned in that country. After retiring several years age from the Salvation Army “The Marechale” determined to devote herself to tho work of Interdenominational Church Evangelism, and is now affiliated with the Mildmay Movement of England. $
