Tlie quartely meeting of the Woodviiie Fire Board was held on Tuesday afternoon, „the Mayor, Mr. H. P. Horne, presiding over the meeting which comprised H. Balbraith (borough council), W. G. Hay and J. W. Norrio (insurance representatives) and 11. McNeil (brigade superintendent). Heave the absence was granted Mr. A. H. Hustwick. Munro, in Ormond street. Mr. H. Hawn was elected a member of the brigade on May 25. One helmet, completing the six ordered, arrived in good condition. The annual bail was held on June 10 and was again a great success. The postmaster-general wrote in answer to a request from the board that the rental for the telephone at the Fire Sation be assessed a the residential rate, stating that the department could nol consider the request. Mr. Hay considered that it was ridiculous that the rate could be changed. He suggested that the superintendent keep an approximate tally of all calls made during the next quarter and that a further application for a reduced rate be then made. It was left to the local committee to provide a- wasli basin and a bath at the living quarters at the station and also to procure a salvage sheet through the Danncvirke Board.
