From Our Own Correspondent A gift evening was held in the Kairanga Hall on Thursday, June 11 in honour of Miss E. Green's forthcoming marriage. The ovening took tho form of a concert and dance, tho concert being in the capable hands of Mrs. F. G. Murphy (Milson) and Mr. J. Remvick (Palmerston North). Tho items were as follows: Song, Mr. G. Whitelock; Highland dancing, Shirley Dalhill, Valerio Anderson and Claude Hendersen; tap dance, Lindsay Jones; skipping dance. Miss J. Perrin; Irish jig, Claude Hendersen; recitation, Noeline Perrin, The second part of the concert was a two-ac.t play by members of the Milson Women’s Institute drama circle, “Poverty Preferred,” produced by Mrs. F. G. Murphy. Those taking part were Mrs. Cutten, Mrs. D.vmock, Mrs. Rennick, Mrs. Child, Miss Terry and Miss Prentice. After the concert, supper was served by the ladies. Mr. C. Hyde, on behalf of the settlers, .wished Miss E. Green every happiness for the future and called on her to open the numerous parcels. Mr. 11. Turner, on behalf of ttie tennis club, wished Miss Green the best of luck for the future and presented her with an electric iron. Mr. H. It. Green, on his daughter’s behalf, thanked everyone present. Dancing was then enjoyed by the young people and the evening was brought to a close with the singing of Atild Lang Syne. On Thursday, June IS, a delightful evening was given Miss E. Green at her parents’ home, “Oakview,” by a number of friends. The drawing room looked very inviting with its glowing log fire. A number of competitions were enjoyed by all. Tho guest of the evening received her friends in a charming frock of navy blue and scarlet crepe de chine. Miss Green was asked to accept numerous gifts and wished every happiness. Personal. Mr. and Mrs. D. Martin are tho guests of Mr. and Mrs. P J. Eglinton for tho A and P. Show. Miss E. Burmeister motored to Wellington for the week-end. 1 Miss M. Small accompanied Mr. and Mrs. A. 1 ;> . McCool on a motor tour to Wellington. Miss T. Green of Hamilton, is holidaying with her aunt, Mrs. M. Burmeister. Mrs. G. Bacon has returned homo after spending a few weeks in Dannevirke. Mr. O. Burmeister has returned from his annual holidays spent in Hawera. Miss G. Hyde has gone on a motor tour of the Hawke’s Bay with her brother. Mrs. J. Harris and her small son Lymann, of Lower Hutt, aro holidaying with Mrs. L. Clark.
