From Our Own Correspondent. The monthly meeting of the school committee was held last week, Mr. J. Callesen presiding. Those present were Messrs. C. E. Bee, G. Syverson, W. Weddell, J. Mahoney (secretary) and E. A. Searle (headmaster). The members of tho committee stood in silence ror a moment as a mark of respect to the late Mr. E. Osborne, who was the committee’s treasurer. The vacancy was flliea Dy sir. G. Syversen, who accepted the position of secretary, the position of treasurer reverting to Mr. J. Mahoney. It was decided that one holiday be granted to the school children for the winter show. It was left to the headmaster to decide which day would be the • most sultame. The Education Board advised that the board’s architect would visit the school Jn the near future to arrange the Installing of solo desks for the senior classroom.

IMiss Martin, of Palmerston North, has been staying with Me. and Mrs. Martin, of Carey street.
