Golf Championship at Dannevirke

MANY PROMINENT PLAYERS ARE COMPETING DRAW FOR QUALIFYING ROUNDS The Dannevirke Golf Club’s annual tournament, with tho Southern Hawke’s Bay championship as the chief event, opens at the Dannevirke course during this week-end. The title-holder is 0. H. Williams, of Manawatu, who will be there to defend his title,, but this time tho opposition will be stronger than last year, among those who have entered being J. P. Ilornabrook, the amateur champion of New Zealand; A. D. S. Duncan and J. Goss, ex-hold-ers of the New Zealand title. The course, which will eventually be one ot the finest in the Dominion, is in better order than ever before, and fine weather is all that is required to make the tournament a record one for the club.
