"Laburnum Grove” Has Successful Presentation
LITTLE THEATRE SOCIETY STAGES BRILLIANT PLAY.
That brilliantly' entertaining play, “Laburnum Grove,” by J. B. Priestley, was again presented in the Opera House last ovouing by tho Talmerston North Little Theatro Society, and met with outstanding success. The audienco was much larger than on tho opening night and tho players, inspired with greater confidence, gave a distinguished performance. An engrossing play excellently' produced, it wavered tho audience between Tick hilarity and dramatic suspense with admirable art. Tho play' abounds witS clever sallies and novel situations, so that tho east, exploiting these to the utmost, was able to win generous and frequent applause. The cast proved to have unusual versatility, and there was ample proof that some of tho newcomers will, with the proper schooling of their talent, be even more effective on future occasions. One and all they rendered “Laburnum Grove” with an exactitude and a resource that conveyqd the maximum of satisfaction to their audience.
The cast was as follows:—Lucy Baxley, Miss Freda Whittaker; Elsie Radfern, Miss Lorna King; Dorothy Radfcrn, Mrs G. C. Petersen; Bernard Baxley, Mr Ronald Rees; George Radfern, Mr J. P. MeDavitt; Joe Fletton, Mr Dudley' Rabone; Inspector Stack, Mr lan Young; Sergeant Morris, Mr S. T. Bristow.
The play was produced and staged by' Mrs S. T. Bristow, who takes credit for imparting a splendid unity to the performance from tho first curtain to the last.
