The victims of the Davistown drownings were; David Missingham, aged 50, of Bondi; his wile, Rebecca, aged 34; Irene Curtain, aged 35; George Boulton, aged b 9, of Camperdown; Mrs Lois Acheson, aged 34, of Manly; and Hunter Yiuli, of Mosinan. The two who escaped were Otto Lingham, aged 37, of Manly, and Miss Eve Stevveds, aged 23, of Mosman. Yuill was driving the leading car, the visibility being bad owing to a heavy mist. He failed to notice that the road ended at the water’s edge, from which projected the jetty. He attempted to stop but was too late. The car following, driven by Missingham, colUded with the rear of Yuill’s car and both plunged into twelve feet of shark-infested water.

Lingham and Miss Stevveds, who were riding in Yuill’s car, were rescued by the local postmaster and his son, who heard a woman’s screams and put out in a rowing boat. Both cars with the bodies were raised to-day by means of block and tackle.
