Feilding Observations

At Feilding sale yesterday there was but a modest yarding of store sheep, and an average one of fat sheep. Beef cattle, stores, were represented by but two pens. Boner cows, in good supply, sold wonderfully well. Dairy cattle were scarcely represented at all. The expected drop in the lamb schedule, of Jd per ib., on Monday, had an effect upon store lamb values. The total entry of store sheep appeared to be about 4500 to 5000. Fat Sheep. About 100 wethers penned and sold freely, according to weight and condition. Light 2-th making 23s fid. A fair entry of lambs and a good sized yarding of ewes. A pen of prime, very heavy ewes made 19s 3d, had good skins. A pen of really cully ewes, sold at 13s lOd. Good butchers’ ewes made 16s to 16s 9d. Only fair ewes, made los 7d. Boner Cows. £2 10s was a general price for ordinary Jersey cull cows. Trices ran from £2 up to £-1 3s. Beef Cattle. Only one pen of any importance, 40 head of very forward bullocks, passed at £8 17s 6d. It was expected that these cattle would make £9 5s to £9 7s 6d. A small pen of eight young forward cattle, made £7 17s 6d; were 5 P.A. and 3 Shorthorns. Store Sheep. 228 ewes t.w. S.D. rams sold at 21s 6d. Fair frames, no condition, healthy appearance, light skins. 220 5-year ewes sold at 21s 9d. Good, big ewes, mouths'? 113 forward ewes sold at 13s 2d. Good frames and healthy. 60 cull ewes sold at 11s 6d. 180 2-th wets sold at 22s 6d. Bather small and little wool. 120 w.f. wet lambs passed at 18s Sd. Splendid lambs. Very well grown, woolly sheep. At 19s 6d, shorn b.f. lambs. Splendid pen, “cheap at the price,” was general comment. At 18s lOd, woolly, small ewe lambs. Even, healthy and well covered. At 15s 3d, b.f. lambs. Small, woolly and healthy.
