From Our Own Correspondent Gun Club Activities. The first shoot of tho 1936 season was held on Mr. G. L. Hartridge's grounds, Pinfold road, on Wednesday afternoon and attracted a field of fourteen shooters. A gusty easterly wind made shooting conditions tricky but very fair scores were recorded during the afternoon. The first match was the opening round for the Mackio and Isherwooa Cups', being of twelve birds from known angles. Scores were as follows: AV. A. Stevenson (10 yards) 11, E. G. Smith (18) 11, A. P. Jensen (10)-10, M. Kearlns (14) 10, J. Martin (16)-9, A. Kamsden (13) 9, G. L. Hartridgo (11) 9, G. Morgan (11) 9, C. Mackle (16) 9, J. Littlo (14) 9, F. Mackie (15) 8, J. Horne (14) 7. The second match was a trophy shoot, open and novice classes both being catered for. The open class was won by F. Mackie with K. G. Smith in second place while AV. A. Stevenson accounted for the novice prize after a shoot off with M. Kearlns who took second place. Following were the scores.—Open class: F. Mackie (15) 9, E. G. Smith (IS) S, J. Martin (16) S, C. Horne (14) 3. The afternoon's sport was concluded with an eight bird sweepstake resulting in W. A. Stevenson and J. Donnelly dividing the money with eight breaks each.

The annual meeting of the club was held in the evening. Mr. A. Eamsden, president, presiding over a fair attendance of members. The president, reporting on tho past season, stated that a very successful year had been experienced, aeven club shoots and two open shoots had been held at which the average attendance had been thirteen. The club had made further improvements and had now installed an automatic angle trap and erected a permanent trap shed. The Hawke’s Bay Provincial Clay Bird Championsnlp had been conducted by the club and was won by Mr. J. Mills, of Hastings, after a shoot oc with E. Groome (Otane) and J. Horne (Woodville). Mr. N. A. Prussing, of Faliiatua, had been successful in the club championship while Mr. J. Martin had annexed the Woodville County cnampionship and also the Mackie and Isherwood Cups. The balance sheet for the year showed a healthy balance. The election of officers for the ensuing year was as follows: Patron, Mr. AV. H. Nelson; president, Mr. A. Eamsden; vicepresidents, Messrs. E. G. Smith, S. Turnbull, J. X. N. Mackie, AV. W. Cook. C. Mackie, AV. H. Toogood, T. A. E. Brittain; committee, Messrs. G. L. Hartridge, J. T. Horne, R. Smith, J. Martin, G. H. Morgan and G. B. DeAth; hon. secretary. F. D. Macule: hanflicapper and referee, AV. H. Toogood; hon. auditor, N. E. Robertson. Votes of thanks were accorded Mr. AV. H. Toogood for his services as referee and handicapper during the season, Mr. G. L. Hartridge for the use of his property, and Mr. and Mrs. A. Eamsden and Mr. S. Turnbull for their geneous assistance in connection with the annual dinner. After a round table discussion on the question of handicapping it was decided that in future the novice and open classes have separate sweepstakes as well as separate trophies. It was decided to make a small addition to the pavilion as soon as possible.

Oddfellows Meet. The fortnightly meeting of the Loyal AVoodville Lodge was held on Monday evening, the Noble Grand Bro. Iv. E. Titheridge presiding over a good attendance of members. Three new members were initiated into the Order. The Lodge delegates to the recent district conference reported fully on the proceedings at the conference and were accorded a hearty vote of thanks for their interesting account of the business. The question of purchasing a set of indoor bowis was discussed and left over until further enquiries had been made by the secretary. The matter of visiting the country districts was brought up and it was decided to continue these visits in the near future. . Queen Carnival. Keen interest is still being maintained in the queen carnival and the three committees are working at top speed for their respective queens. The latest figures show the A. and P. queen still at the top of the poll with 11313 votes, being followed by the Institute queen vith 5909 votes and the Town queen with SBIJ votes. Bowls. The AVoodville Bowling Club will ho represented at the champion rinks contest at Palmerston North on Saturday by the following rink; D. Kenyon A\. J Hawkes, F. D. Mackio and A. Jame..
