BIFTH ANNUAL MEETING AT i , BALLANCE. The fifth, .annual meeting of the Ballance Women's Institute -was held recently, Mrs B. G. McKenzie presiding. A comprehensive report of the past year’s activities was presented by Mrs ChaSt Holdaway, hon. secretary, and the 'balance-sheet, showing a sound financial position, was read by Mrs Norman Parry, hon. treasurer. In her presidential address Mts McKenzie complimented the secretary and the -treasurer for the very efficient manner in which they had carried out their duties, and also thanked the committee for their willing assistance throughout the year. The competition for. the day, prettiest hand posy, was won by Mrs McKenzie, with Mrs Miller second and Mrs May third. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames Miller and May. As the nominations did not exceed the number required, there was no election. The following are the officers and committee for the ensuing . year: Mesdames D. G. McKenzie (president), Jas. Gibson, C. Watt (vice-presidents), Chas. Holdaway (hon. secretary), P. Humphrey (hon. treasurer), B. Cooper, N Parry, F. T. Horne and Geo. Miller. The retiring treasurer, Mrs Parry, did not seek re-election.

The competition stewards are Misses Bremner and Gibson; “Home and Country” distribution, Miss A. Croad. and press correspondent, Mrs Chas. Holdaway. Members are reminded to dig their potatoes before the next meeting which will bo held on April Sth.
