Gift Afternoon for Miss Dorothy Beard

Mrs. 0. B. Townshend was hostess at a delightful gift” party given yesterday at her residence, Rainforth street, in honour of Miss Dorothy Beard, of Knowles street, who is shortly to be married. Mrs. Townshend received the guests wearing a graceful frock of burgundy georgette and lace; Airs. J. Beard were a floral silk frock with black marocain coat and.black hat, the guest of honour wearing a becoming frock of tabac panne velvet with lace and gold’lame, her’ hat being of peach bloom to tone.

The rooms were charmingly decorated with autuihn foliage, zinnias, pompom dahlias and long sprays of lion’s tail. Aliss Beard was presented with a dainty Victorian posy in autumn tones by Miss Vnldn Townshend. Amusing competitions provided pleasing diversion, the prize-winners being Airs. Squires, Airs. Lament, Aliss J. Ladyman and Aliss Duffell. Delicious afternoon tea was enjoyed after which Airs. Townshend conveyed the good wishes of her friends to Aliss Beard and asked her acceptance of the many gifts they had brought. Miss Beard feelingly expressed her thanks.
