Dance at Feilding For Miss Joan Billman

Miss Joan Billman, Cheltenham Women’s Institute cueen candidate, who has been so much feted of late, was the guest of the evening at a dance in the Parish hall on Tuesday. Miss Hillman's colours, orange atul green, were carried out on tho stage with flowers and greenery interspersed-with flags in.the two shades, the result being altogether charming, while Messrs Anderson and Pitman were responsible for the pretty lighting effects. Popular dance numbers, played by a local orchestra, made up a programme quite to the satisfaction of tho numerous patrons, and Miss Muriel Fitzpatrick provided music for extra dances. Mr K. Viles was M.C. In addition to a Monte Carlo waltz, won by Miss N. Sutton and Mr T. Pyne, and a statue log cabin, won by Miss Ward and Mr R. Naylor, there was a streamer dance and a multitude of gaily coloured balloons freed from a large container on high added a carnival noto in keeping with the occasion and considerably enhanced the merriment.

Mesdames J. E. Barltrop, G. J. Fitzpatrick and F. Shepherd were in charge of the supper arrangements and hydrangeas in all the beautiful new shades were used to decorate the table. The dance was considered one of the very brightest held for Miss Billman and the one regret of those in attendance was that it passed all too quickly. A competition for a large fruit cake, made by Mrs E. E. Short and iced and decorated by Miss Billman, was won by Mrs A. K. Prouse, of Makino.
