Congratulations to the boyr on their good showing . and keenness for the game. The King’s birthday tourney was again very successful and as popular as over, also proving very successful financially. Tho dato for this year’s tournament, on account of the King’s death, will necessarily have to bo altered. Fortunately the now date will remain in tho same month, i.e./June 23, now our Sovereign’s birthday.

“The Jubilee tournament was inaugurated as a Wednesday tourney to commemorate King George’s Jubilee, 21 teams entering and a very successful day was experienced. Cups were bought and the committee recommends this as an annual fixture.

“Tho- sealed handicap proved an interesting finish thougn unfortunately, through the lateness of the season, all teams were unablo to compete in the competition. Schools’ tourney: Very few entries were received but every endeavour should be made to keep this competition alive. Through the season Mr. D. Barrett presented a shield for competition between Town and Country players to be known as the Dave Barrett Challenge Shield, the Town players winning it the first time it was played for. “A very enjoyable game was played against the Manawatu women for the Harper Cup. In this game Feilding proved successful, winning by 4 goals to 2.

“A further challenge was receivedfrom Bush, Feilding successfully defending this cup. Congratulations to the ladies and also to the selector, Mr. J. Hill. A women’s team was sent to Marton to play Itangitikei for the McKelvie Cup, Rangitikei proving too good on tho day and winning by. 2 goals to 3.

‘ ‘ Wo had the pleasure of a visit from tho Taranaki women’s touring team. A most enjoyable game was played, the visitors proving successful. Thanks are due to those who billeted the visiting players. Home and home games were played against Bush and much enjoyed by the players. “Our men’s representative team visited Hastings for the Nordon Cup, a very successful game resulting, Feilding being beaten by one goal. Thanks are due to the Hastings Association for their wonderful hospitality. ' “Financially tho season was more successful than many previous ones, which is shown by the balance-sheet.

“The executive realised that something would have to be done to raise funds, is hockey was to mako headway, and it was decided to promote a queen carnival. A small executive committee was set up to carry on the business of the carnival,' and everybody entered into it with ‘the right spirit. Thanks are due to the three queens representing the different districts and also to our hard-working committees. No effort was spared and the venture proved a wonderful success. The sum of approximately £440 was netted as a result. This amount judiciously handled should be of great assistance in furthering the interests of hockey particularly in this district. “The public of Feilding and surrounding districts, particularly those of Colyton, Carnarvon and Ohakea, were very generous in their response to the many calls made upon them. The executive expresses thanks to all who assisted. “Towards the end of the season the services of the president, Mr. M. Worsfold, were lost through his departure for Carterton, this being a serious loss to hockey. The committee wish him well in his new sphere. “Another of the executive, Mr. V. Wallis, left the district, and congratulations are extended to him on his advancement.

“The thanks of the association are tendered to the ladies’ committee who helped at our social functions and games, the Feilding Jockey Club for tho uso of their grounds for our King’s birthday tourney, the Press, the Hockey Umpires Association, also our hon. auditor, Mr. 0. Aldis.”
