Coming-of-age is Happily Celebrated

FEILDING PARTY FOR MISS GWLADYS BEADING *~ ! On Monday night a delightful party was given by Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Beailing, of Derby street, Feilding, to cclbbrate the coming-of-ago of their eldest daughter, Gwladys. Tho function was given in tho Oddfellows’ hall, and nearly 70 guests attended. Gay floral and streamer decorations in shades of pink and green brightened tho hall, j A number of visitors, friends and relatives of tho guest of honour, were present from various centres,' and included the following: Miss P. Brown, Mrs. Brown (Auckland), Mr.-and Mrs. Madsen, Mr. and Mrs. Alec Donald, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Donald, Mr. and Mrs. F. Perrin (Wairarapa), Misses M. Te Punga, D.. Naesmith and M. Vqrry (Palmerston North). Mrs. Bealing, wearing a frock of crepe marocain, received her guests. Miss Gwladys Bealing looked’graceful in leaf green satin and lace, while of hor sistors, Miss Joy Bealing chose red and white crepe; Miss Jessie Bealing, floral crepe; and Miss Betty Bealing, blue satin. I Tho evening was passed in dancing and competitions, while card tables were set out for non-dancers. Mr. Stan. Leitch made an excellent M.C., and under his direction a well-varied programme of old-time and modern numbers was enjoyed. Mr. Eric Bramwell was at ; tho piano. A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Miss'Jessie Bealing and Mr. H. Boniface. After an enjoyable supper had been dispensed, Mr. A. J. Humphries, whose friendship with tho Healing family is of many years’ standing, proposed the health of the guest of honour, and paid tribute to her popularity among a wide circlo of friends. Ho also thanked Mr. and Mrs. Bealing for the opportunity afforded tho guests of gathering to celebrate the occosiou iu such a happy manner. In a brief speech, Miss Bealing returned thanks for, the honours accorded her, and for the many tangible expressions of friendship which she had received. She then received the traditional gold key at the hands of her father, and musical honours followed. Tho birthday cake was made by Mrs. Bealing, and was lit with the appropriate number of candles/ The party then continued with great jollity until an early' hour, when it terminated with the . singing of ' “Aulci Lang.Syne.” ' ‘
