BADGER CUP GAME. MAKUEI RETAIN TROPHY. A high standard of tennis marked Sunday’s play at Makuri courts when the challengers, tko Mangamutu A team, were defeated for the first time in four years by an inter-club team. The issue was in doubt practically until the finish of play, but Makuri established a lead four sets to retain the trophy. At the conclusion of play, Mr. Trevor Rutherford, on behalf of the holders, thanked the visiting team for the fine games they had given Makuri, and hoped that on some future occasion they would again have the pleasure of meeting the Mangamutu players.. .
