Rugby Football Affairs. At the annual meeting of the Woodville Football Club there was a good attendance of members presided over by the president, Mr D. Murray. t The report on the past year’s activities submitted to the meeting was as follows: Although the past year was not all i might have been, it must be considered one of the most successful the clhb has experienced for a number of years. Our teams were not able to reach the top o. tho ladder, but the players generally took a much keener interest and the standard of play showed a considerable improvement on that of other years. The senior team under the capable management o. Mr K. B. Gothard did not play up to expectations early in the season principally for want of training but later . showed that they were capable of holding their own with the best teams in the competition. Both the A and B third grade teams were under the management of Mr H. McNeil who was ably assisted by Mr H. Giles. Tho A team made an excellent showing and was just unfortunate that it did not win its competition. The B team, through having o play in a grade higher than was expected was not so successful but is to bo congratulated on the excellent spirit in which it faced such odds, and the general improvement shown as tho season progressed. The club was unfortunate in only having one challenge for tho Dewar Cup, which it was able to retain from tho Rangers’ (Dannevirke) challenge. Financially the club shows a credit balance of a few pounds more than tho previous season and this satisfactory position is to a great extent due to the ladies, who under the able direction of Mcsdames McNeil and Giles held a street stall on behalf of the club. The club’s best thanks are duo to Mr R. Bly (representative on the Manawatu Union), the team managers, Messrs K. B. Gothard, 11. McNeil and H. Giles, and the joint secretaries, Messrs E. Beale and R. Jones. The election of officers for the year resulted as follows: Patron, Dr.' P. 11. Mules; president, Mr M. D. Murray; vicepresidents, Messrs It. Bly, R. G. Smith, J. Brandon, A. Brown, R. 11. Morgan and J. Sullivan; hon. secretary, Mr M. de Malmanche; hon. treasurer, Mr F. D. Mackie; hon. auditor, Mr K. B. Gothard; management committee, Messrs J. Burlace, J. MuKinlay, F. Balter, R. Beale, E. Hutchinson, A. Gilmore; club captain, Mr H. McNeil; delegates to the union, Messrs R. Bly, M. D. Murray and F. D. Mackie. Tho matter of appointing selectors was left to the incoming management committee. Subscriptions for tho season were fixed.
