Kia Toa Rugby Football Club

ANNUAL MEETING HELD The annual meeting of the Kia Toa Rugby Football Club was held last night, Mr. A. M. Ongley presiding over an attendance of about, GO, In speaking to the annual report, as already published, the chairman said that, although the club had undergone a lean period as far as playing ability was concerned, there woro a number of matters in the report for congratulation. The club had fulfilled all its engagements and had placed a team in overy grado as well as in the Wednesday competition. From the balancesheet it would bo seen that the club was in a good financial position, having improved its cash balance by £3O during the year. The club’s dances had bocomo very popular and were a good source of revenue. Very few clubs in the Dominion had been fortunate enough to secure representation in the All Black team which recently toured the Old Country, and it was a matter for congratulation that R. McKenzie, the captain of the club’s first fifteen, had been included. Supporting Mr Ongley, Mr H. R. Crawford paid a tribute to tho work of the committee.' Replying to criticism that the' club was hoarding money, he pointed out that £2OO had been spent during the year.' The election of officers for" the ensuing year resulted as follows: —Patron, Mr J. R. Ilardic; president, Mr A. M. Ongley; management committee, Messrs W. Mitchell, B. Clarke, G. Farrar, J. Kingsboer, L. J. Mullins, T. Kilpatrick, T. Doherty, L. Cowling; secretary and treasurer, Mr G. A. Brown; club captain, Mr L. Hcatley; delegates to Manawatu Rugby Union, Messrs H. R. Crawford, L. J. Mullins, G. Spencer and Arnott; hon. auditor, Mr P. S. Larcomb. New members elected totalled 30. It was docided to hold tho first field practico on tho last Saturday in March. The matter of arranging friendly matches between then and the opening of the competitions was left to the management committee. Annual subscriptions were fixed as follow: Seniors 10s, juniors ss, thirds 2s, fourths 2s, fifths Is, sixths free, Wednesday players ss. A recommendation was made to the committee that the team with the best playing record at the end of the season should be provided with a game against an outside club, at the expense of the club. A vote of thanks was accorded Mr R. McKenzie for tho donation of a framed photograph of the All Black team, autographed by all its members.
