From Our Own Correspondent. Tennis at Aratika. An enjoyable return match was played on the Aratika court on'Saturday against a team from Waiata. A whole day’s tennis was played and resulted in a win for the home team ‘l4 sets against Waiata!’s 10 sets. Lunch and afternoon tea served under the willows was much appreciated by all. The annual picnic and prize giving of St. Andrew's Sunday school is to take place next Saturday at Grassmere, when the Sunday school teachers are hoping for the support of the residents to make tho function a success. School Committee. A meeting of the school committee was held on Friday evening. The chairman, Mr J. Crook, reported that tiie Ashhurst Domain would not be available on Wednesday next and it was decided to ash for the use of Mr H. K. Hocken’s grounds at “Grasspiere” for the occasion. A full programme of sports ’for children and adults has been arranged and a most delightful day is sure to be spent by all attending. Tennis Tournament. A combined doubles handicap for the silver buttons was held at the courts on Saturday. The winners were Miss H. Hocken and Mr R. Burgess, who will no doubt receive many challenges in the near future. Personal. Mrs R. L. Langdon (Ardilea) is visiting friends in the Wairarapa. Miss Mitchell who has been opening an extended holiday with Mrs P. R. Mitchell, leaves for Rangiwahia on Friday where she will be the guest of Mrs T. B. Collins. Miss Mabel Smith, Dannevirke, is visiting friends in thp district. Miss P. Peacock, Kakanki, is visiting Mrs L. N. Bradley. Mrs Paton is the guest of Mrs G. L. Jensen. , . . Miss Gladys Curry is convalescing at her home in Colyton after an operation for appendicitis in Palmerston North Mr J. Bussell, Takapau, is visiting Mis W W Bussell, ‘‘Gittshayne.” Mr T. Wales returned on Saturday after a holiday spent at New Plymouth.
