Values for medium to crossbred wools appreciated slightly on late rates at the Wanganui wool sale which was still in progress at the Opera House oarly this evening. The saie was the second of the current season’s series to bo held in this centre. A full bench of buyers operated and bidding was keen at very definite limits. Fully 95 per cent. o. the offering, which exceeded 30,000 bales, was sold under tho hammer disclosing now the fairly general tendency of growers to meet the market. Bradford was a more active oporator than at the sale in January. German mills were prominent and quite a large percentage of the offering suited the Continent. France, Japan and to a lesser extent America, were in the market for wools suitable to their respective trades. Crutchings showed a very appreciable advance compared with values at the last Wellington sale.

The average prices showed the following position: — 50’s no change, 9sd. 48’s up a farthing, Bjd. 40’s to 44's up a farthing, 8d to Sid. 30's par to id, 72(1 to Bd. Lambs’, free of seed firm, 10]d to 12]d; slightly seeded id up, to 12]d; slightly seeded Id up, 9d to lO^d. Bellies aud pieces par, 54d to 7d. Crutchings id to Id up, 7d to Sid. The range of prices was as follows; Fine half bred (56/58).— Extra super nil, super to 15jd, average I3d to 14d. Medium half bred (50/56). —Average lid to 12]d, inferior 9Jd to lOd. The New Zealand Farmers' Co-op. Distributing Co., Ltd., reports as follows: ‘‘We submitted a catalogue of 3428 bales, of which we sold 95 per cent, under the hammer. Bidding was exceptionally keen and prices for all wools can be quoted fully firm on recent sales, and in some cases in seller’s favour. Bradford, the Continent, Japan and Canada were all competing for wools suitable for their requirements and the results should be pleasing to the growers concerned. Reclassed clips showing style wero keenly sought after and sold particularly well, especially the coarse lines of fleece from these clips. ‘‘For a line of super 'Down-cross lambs, belonging to Mr A. S. Coleman, Marton, we obtained 14]d per ib. For another line on account of Mr D. Scott, Taihapc, the price was 141 d. German buyers were also operating freely and made their largest purchases so far for the season, France was very active and Bradford bought sparingly and appeared to be tied down to hard and fast limits. As compared with late sales we quote ordinary topmaking cross bred firm. Lambs' wool was very firm and can be quoted up on Wellington. Altogether the sale was very successful.
