Yesterday's Ewe Fair
PRICES EASIER. Yesterday must easily have been the warmest day Pahiatua has experienced this summer and those who attended the ewe fair experienced a trying time, especially the auctioneers and stock agents, the very nature of the work making it almost overpowering as the day wore on. The animals themselves felt the heat perhaps the most of all and in some of the pens the stock looked quite "knocked upP' The yarding was not so large and the quality of stock penned not as gqpd as that yarded at the first fair. Prices were easier in the early part of the day, but taken all round, farmers appeared to be realising quite satisfactory figures for their offerings. Messrs Abraham and Williams, selling on behalf of Mr J. Devane, Konini, secured the top prices for two-tooths of 39s for a lot of 65, and 36s for a pen of four-tooths on account of Mr R. E. Meech, of Pongaroa.
