Lorry Capsizes

OCCUPANTS’ LUCKY ESCAPE. LEVIN, Last Night. , "When the brcak-doivu lorry in which they were travelling to bring in a car which had met with a mishap on Waitarcre Beach Road, overturned and was badly damaged on tho Avenue llill late yesterday afternoon, two Levin young men had a lucky escape l.oin serioug injury. The lorry was being driven by Mr Allan Galpin, who had with him as passenger Mr Robert Bishop. On reaching the intersection of Xawiu Road with the main highway, which is bumpy at present through repair work, a car was met proceeding southward. The rear wheels of the breakdown lorry struck a bump, which aided by the high springing of such vehicles, threw it temporarily out of control. !£he driver endeavoured to right it, the lorry went into a skid, overturned and came to rest upside down. Notwithstanding the fact that it was extensively damaged, the occupants escaped with a few cuts and a shaking. Mr Galpin also received slight concusson and was taken to Hospital, but will be returning to his home to-day. CAR FALLS OVER BANK. Just after 4 p.m. yesterday afternoon a car driven by Mr H. Gibson, of Saxton Street, who was accompanied by his wife and four children, .skidded over a six foot bank after negotiating a bad bend on the Waitarere Beach Road.
