This represents the difference between tho return which would have been received had tho crop boon sold for milling and the price which the grower will now get. it is also estimated thaL one-third of the barley crop has been lost. Air. West based his estimate on his area representing lour million bushels which had been affected. In some stooks which ho examined yesterday sprouting had already commenced, and bakers could not uso more than 1 per cent, of sprouted grain in their bread mixture.
